First Kiln Opening

No shelves broke~ whew, nothing blew up~ double whew, and is that reduction I see??!!

Some of the colors look so different I have difficulty identifying what glaze is on them. The green glaze (lower left side) looks a lot better in oxidation- not as much crystallization, these are too cloudy for my liking. The lower right shows pots in a creamy (cloudy) lavender- it is blue in oxidation.

Overall I am satisfied. This was good for a first firing. If a few pots are pouting, I can live with it.

Apparently I did hit reduction! This is my turquoise glaze- bright blue in oxidation, here more earthy, spots and breaking brown. I like it.

This mug is glazed with the same turquoise blue and Leach White on the lip. Hello iron spots! Welcome to my world :)

These mugs are glazed with a new color...but were in different areas of the kiln...hmm. The left was up high, while the mug on the right was much lower in the kiln.

Check out the bottom of each- the one on the right was more heavily reduced....hmm. How did that happen?
