Kiln Update

The kiln was delivered on Wednesday. It made it's journey well. The movers were amazing; Burkins and Foley- if you are in the Capital District, NY area- they are the BEST!

I took out the handmade supports and am happy to report that the kiln is in pretty good shape for 15 years of wear and four moves!
The area where the door closes shows the worst wear, but a few new bricks will take care of that.

The floor only has one brick that needs replacing.
The arch is in great shape!

To deal with the low shed clearance (see this posting), I will go with a heat venting system created by Bailey. This will require that I lower the kiln stack~ a little surgery. It will look something like this (photo from Bailey Pottery):

I will upgrade the combustion system as well. Not sure how long it will take to get all this arranged, but I'm in no hurry. My nerves area back to calm having completed the move!

When we do the surgery I'll take photos and post them. Thanks for everyone's support!
